Close to 500 scientists from 58 countries gathered in Dubai for the 4th Nano Today Conference held at the JW Marriot Marquis Hotel Dubai on December 6-10, 2015. Organized by the Nano Today journal, the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN) and Elsevier, the conference showcased the latest research at the multidisciplinary frontier of nanostructured materials and devices.

Chaired by Nano Today Editor-in-Chief and IBN Executive Director, Professor Jackie Y. Ying, the conference featured three plenary lectures by Professor Paras Prasad (State University of New York), Professor Kam Leong (Columbia University) and Professor Peidong Yang (University of California, Berkeley). Professor Peidong Yang is also the recipient of the Nano Today 2015 Award for his pioneering work on nanowire synthesis and energy applications.

There were 35 invited talks by leading scientists from internationally renowned institutions, 66 contributed oral presentations and over 400 poster presentations. The contributed presentations were selected from over 1,300 abstract submissions from 72 countries.

To encourage the participation of young researchers, 20 PhD students were selected from over 250 applicants to receive the Student Travel Awards, which provided them with a registration fee waiver (equivalent to USD 400) to attend and present their research findings at the conference.

The best 8 posters from the conference were awarded the Best Poster Awards. Each winner received USD 200 and a certificate. Through these highly selective awards, the conference seeks to recognize the research and efforts of the poster presenters, especially the young researchers.
